Soapy Boatloads of Love

The largest thing I pulled out of the envelope was a 7″x12″ sheet of Blue Bayou DS paper. So, that’s what I started with. The next thing I wanted to use was a sheet of glossy white card stock that was already done with dish soap bubbles*. My brain bounced around for a little while and finally settled on Boatloads of love with the bubble paper.

I started out trying to make a round card, but that didn’t work quite the way I had hoped it would, so I took my “accident” and made a square card with a round window. I stamped the large boat on a sheet of acetate and colored the back of the boat in with frosty nail polish. I was really pleased with that outcome – I didn’t want the boat to be a solid piece on the acetate. I love the shimmer of the boat and that the bubble still show through.

I couldn’t decide what color to use in addition to the Blue Bayou. I originally wanted red, but I couldn’t decide on which red to use. So I finally picked Groovy Guava. I stamped the sentiment in Groovy Guava on Whisper White. It’s mounted on a piece of Groovy Guava with two silver brads. I also used the Round Tab Punch and punched two tabs out of Groovy Guava. If you line the two tabs up perpendicular, you’ll get a circle. It was exactly the size I needed. After I adhered the two tabs together, I punched a hole in the center with the 3/4″ circle punch. I used the Signo White Gel Pen to draw the lines and *Poof!* a life-preserver.

This card took me a couple of days to finish. I had the basic idea floating around in my head, I just had to catch it.

* Bubble Technique
Put 1 tsp of liquid dish soap into a stamp & supply box. Fill ½ of the box with water. Use a straw and blow until the box is filled with bubbles. Lay the cardstock upside-down on the bubbles and push down until the bubbles stick to the card stock. Take the cardstock out and let the bubbles pop. Glossy card stock works best.
