Technique of the Week: Paper Piecing

This week’s technique is Paper Piecing and I chose the set “And Many Mower” from the current Occasions Mini Catalog.  The colors I used are Brocade Blue, Mellow Moss, Close to Cocoa, So Saffron & Whisper White.

The first thing you’ll need is to gather your paper/card stock.  I used scraps for pieces I knew would be smaller.

Then you’ll want to stamp your image once on each color of card stock.

Now that you have all of your stamping done, you can begin cutting out the pieces.  It’s a lot like doing a tiny little puzzle.  I do my cutting with a craft knife, but you could use paper snips also.

Cut out each piece from each color of card stock.  There’s a lot of leftover on some of the smaller pieces, which is why I used scraps for his hat and his shoes.

Next, color in your image on white.  You’ll only need to color the parts that won’t be covered with the additional pieces.

Now you can stick it all together.

And finish your card.
