Technique of the Week: Spotlighting
One of several new blog features I’m starting is called the Technique of the Week. Hopefully every Monday I’ll have a different technique to share with you. I will make a mini-tutorial with step-by-step instructions that will help you see how to repeat this technique on your own.
This week’s technique is Spotlighting. Here is a little tutorial on spotlighting.
First, gather your supplies. Spotlighting is easier with a detailed image where you only want to showcase a part of the image. Here, I used Flaky Friends from Stampin’ Up!®
Next, you’ll want to stamp your image twice. Once on good cardstock that fits the entire image.
Second, on scrap card stock, stamp the part of the image you want to highlight. It’s okay on scrap card stock because you’ll be cutting it or punching it out later – it doesn’t need to fit the entire image.
Once you have both images stamped,
you’ll need to cut them apart.
Then, color in the image on the scrap card stock. You only need to color in the part you’re wanting to highlight or empasize.
Once you’ve got it colored, you’ll need to use a punch and punch it out, or use your paper cutter to cut it out.
Next, layer the colored piece over the larger uncolored piece.
Finish your card.
Thanks so much for reading the Technique of the Week! I’m glad you’re here and I hope to see you soon!
