Happy Valentine’s Day!

I know this is not my personal blog, but I will share a card with you in a minute.  First I have to brag on my hubby.  :)

I’ve been sick all week and was finally able to get to the doctor last night to get some antibiotics.  So we didn’t make any grand plans for valentine’s day this year.  And, it’s not like we make grand plans for valentine’s day usually, but as I’ve been drifiting in and out of a functional state it just wasn’t really discussed.  So, anyway…I went to bed about an hour earlier than usual last night and slept all night.  When I woke up this morning, I found this next to my clock.

valentinesbear

Isn’t he adorable?  I’m feeling a little better this morning but still sick: coughing and sneezing and stuff.  But this little guy just made my weekend!  My husband is such a great guy – this was so much more romantic to me than a dozen roses would have been.  (I never expect roses for valentine’s day – they’re expensive!)  But that my hubby took the time to stop and pick out a little stuffed animal when I’ve been feeling sick all week was just the perfect thing to do!  I love my husband!

And, if you’re interested, here’s a link to his blog:  http://www.thewayofapilgrim.com. He’s a pastor & a book nerd & he has his Master’s degree from Bethel Seminary.  He writes a daily post on a chapter in the Bible and publishes a Koine Greek Word of the Day podcast during the week.  Somewhere in there, he manages to work full time so that I can stay home with our kids.  He’s a great guy and a wonderful husband & father.

Okay, and now back to the regularly scheduled programming:

Here’s a simple one-layer valentine I made this week.

maskedlatte

I used the retired set “Like it a Latte” and the “u” from the retired “Rough Edges Alpha”.  The card is Very Vanilla and I took a piece of printer paper and cut a circle out.  I used the negative of the image to protect the card base while I sponged Regal Rose ink inside the circle.  The coffee mug is stamped in Chocolate Chip.  I stamped the foam on top and then masked the foam so that I could stamp the steam in Creamy Caramel.

The heart is also stamped in Regal Rose, but I stamped it off once on scratch paper so that it wouldn’t be so bold on the card.  Next I stamped the sentiment over top of the heart.  The “u” got stamped on a scrap and cut out to fit.

It’s very clean card because there aren’t any layers to distract from the message.  (I may be a little biased because this is one of my all time favorite stamp sets.)

Anyway…that’s my valentine’s day for you all.  I hope you have a great weekend and. . .

Happy Stamping!
