A Cake in Progress

Well, here’s the latest updates to my current project.  This cake will be a centerpiece of my table setting.  The top layer has been assembled now, so all three layers are built.  I decided on how to decorate it also.  I’m going to use the new ribbon originals in the Holiday Mini Catalog and tie a ribbon all the way around the outside of the layer.  Then, I’m going to attach one of the punch Christmas trees to each slice.

For anyone keeping score, that’s 32 punch Christmas trees and when they’re finished, they look something like this:

Each one consists of one scallop circle punch in Old Olive and one word window punch in Chocolate Chip.   Then I swiped each circle with my Whisper White craft pad to create snow.  The craft ink needs to dry before you handle it, or you’ll get little white finger prints on Everything.  (don’t ask how I know)  ;)

Then each circle needs cut and assembled following these instructions:

***The full tutorial on making these cute little trees is available here, in my October Newsletter.***

So, even though my blog has been a little bit quiet lately, my stamp room definitely has not.  So, here is a final picture of the totally completed top layer of my cake.

I hope you’re enjoying these “cake in progress” posts.  I hope that by posting the various steps involved that you’ll see these bigger projects don’t have to be intimidating.  Stay tuned – I hope to get the rest of the cake finished off in the next few days.

See you soon!

I loved these trees from the first time I saw them on your blog. So many cute applications, but your cake, it…umm…well, it “takes the cake”!

I can’t wait to see the finished project. TFS!
