Watercolored Beach

This card was inspired by a Chat & Challenge that I participated in on SUDSOL.  A Chat & Challenge is a scheduled time SUDSOL members can get together to participate in a card challenge – usually a sketch.  This time was no exception!  Here is the sketch that was used:  (from http://gotsketch.blogspot.com)

I was super excited about the scalloped edge and I tried desperately to make the fold of my card scalloped.  Unfortunately, my punches are a little to weak to get through 2 layers of card stock.  So here’s what I came up with:

The card base is Pink Pirouette.  The image is stamped in Staz-On Jet Black on watercolor paper.  I used Stampin’ Write® markers and ink pads with Blender Pens to color the image.  The sentiment is stamped in Sahara Sand ink directly on the Pink Pirouette base.  The ribbon is Moss and the button is from the Button Bouquet.  The embellishment in the top right hand corner is actually a 5 Petal Flower punched out of Mellow Moss.  I cut off the bottom two petals and flipped them up to look more like a plant leaf or a palm tree.

Now as far as the scallop edge goes, here’s a picture of the fold:

I used my Slit punch to make a scalloped edge on a strip of Pink Pirouette card stock.  I then cut off 3/8 of an inch off the outside (non-folding) edge of the card.  This allows the scalloped edge to be a part of the card and still fit in a regular envelope.  Then I just used some SNAIL and stuck the scallop strip to the card front.  Easy as that!

Remember you can always leave me a comment or send an email if you have a question on how I did something.  I read all the comments and emails and try to respond to them all as soon as I can.

Thank you all for reading and taking the time to comment.  I love hearing from you!
