My 2nd Anniversary as a SU Demo

I can’t believe I’ve been a demonstrator for 2 years already.  Time really does fly when you’re having fun!  I’m not sure if I’ve posted my Stampin’ Up!® story here or not, but I’ll do the brief version.  :)

In July, a friend of mine that I met at our local moms group invited me to a Stampin’ Up!® workshop at her house.  She gave me an invitation postcard with the picture on the front – I saw the picture and was intrigued.  I’d never heard of Stampin’ Up!® but I loved scrapbooking.  I decided to go to the party.  I had such a good time, I didn’t want to leave!  Thankfully my friend let me borrow her catalog and I spent the next two days going over and over it.  I decided to order just one stamp set and try it out.  I had a couple of random ink pads from scrapbooking, so I ordered one set.

When my order finally came in, the bag had some other information in it – flyers and things about upcoming events.  One of the flyers was for a Technique Club.  I ended up signing up for the club, and then about a week after that I scheduled my own workshop.  I had such a blast playing with new products at the workshop, that I couldn’t wait for club to start!

Finally I was able to go to stamp club.  I went and had such a good time that I began to look over the “Join Our Family” brochure.  I read about it and asked the demonstrator (who was a great help) about signing up.  She sent me home with a sample video.  I watched the video, discussed things with my husband and took the plunge.

Less than three months before I had never heard of Stampin’ Up!®  Now, two years later, I still love it and would do it all over again in a second!  So, here I am stamping away and hopefully sharing ideas that will inspire others.

Now, just for kicks, I thought I would post the first card I ever made.

Look how flat that is!  I really liked the stamp set but I didn’t really know how to use up the potential that was there.  And to top it off, I mounted one of the stamps upsidown!  I got the label on, but turned the block over the wrong way when I went to stick the rubber on.  I was a real newbie!

I was also on a budget so I started out buying stamps and then picking up cheap ink pads, cleaners, card stock at the big box stores.  It didn’t take me long to find out that when you’ll looking for a cheaper product, you’re getting a cheaper product.  My inks dried out quickly and I couldn’t get my card stock to match anything.  Finally I caved in (just before I signed up to demo) and bought a Stampin’ Up!® ink pad.  Wow!  A crisp clear image when I stamped it!  That was the beginning of the end.  :)

So anyway…that’s how I became addicted to Stampin’ Up!®

Come on back tomorrow – I’ve got a new card to show you that uses KWerner’s Color Challenge.

See you then!

  1. Hi Jen:

New to your blog and I’ve been enjoying it. I’m 1 1/2 yrs in as a SU demonstrator and I’ve looked back at cards i made and am very embarrassed:)

I’d love to see what you would do with that same stamp set now!

    Just a thought.

    Thanks,

    Janet

  2. Thanks for sharing Jen!

We should never be embarassed by our first steps as long as we can see a progression and improvement. It’s just like our walk with Jesus. We should definitely see a difference from our first decision to follow Him to where we are today and where we hope to be one day!!
