Yellow Roses for Grammy
I got a new set to play with! One of the things that arrived in my SU! box (in addition to my Holiday Mini pre-order) was the set “A Rose is a Rose”. I’ve been debating about this one for a while and finally I caved in. I was so excited when it arrived that I made myself assemble it last, so I wouldn’t stop and play wth it and neglect my other stamps. Finally I managed to squeeze in some time without any munchkins running around. Here’s what I came up with:
I made this card for my Grammy. She’s developing Alzheimers and it’s starting to get frustrating for her. So I wanted to cheer her up. I know she loves the color yellow, and her bridal bouquet was yellow roses, so I just thought this would be the perfect thing for her. I am a little bit sad because I don’t get to see her as much as I would like to. When I was growing up, we all lived in the same town and went to church together. So we were all (my aunts & uncles & cousins) together pretty regularly. Now that I’ve gotten married and had kids, and became a pastor’s wife the trips are fewer and farther between. So I hope that even though I don’t get to drop it off in person, this card makes her smile.
I used So Saffron & More Mustard ink for the 2-step roses and Certainly Celery & Old Olive for the leaves. The roses are all one layer – I did a lot of masking. The bottom accent piece is More Mustard Cardstock punched with the Scallop Edge Punch. The sentiment is from the level one hostess set: Best Yet.
Once I got everything stamped & assembled, I took some Crystal Effects and added some dew drops just for a little texture. Now, I was trying really hard not to make them look like the flowers in the store that have huge clear beads that DO NOT look like dew. I just barely applied pressure to the CE bottle and got some teeny tiny beads to appear when I tapped the cardstock.
Overall I was really excited about how this turned out. I’m personally not crazy about yellow roses, but I think they turned out beautifully and will be perfect for Grammy.

Happy stamping!
