Movin’ and Groovin’ “Just Moved” Card

This card may look harmless, but it’s really a super duper card with magical powers.

The card base is your ordinary Chocolate Chip and the Neighborhood wheel is stamped on Baja Breeze.  The scalloped “grass” is Kiwi Kiss punched with the scallop edge punch.  The colored house was stamped in Staz-on Timber Brown on Whisper White card stock and colored in with the ink pads & a blender pen.

All the way to the left, there is a tab that was punched with the Round Tab Punch and inverted.  You might also be able to see the word window punched in the front of the card in one layer of the Baja Breeze.

This card also uses lots of Stampin’ Dimensionals, as well as some strategically placed SNAIL to hold everything together.

Are you ready to see the magic super powers of this card?

Well, here goes:

The little pull tab reveals the moving truck and pulls the house through the neighborhood.  Magic!

Okay, so it’s not really magic, it’s a combination of a couple different cards I’ve seen.  There’s a spinner card that is designed with an image will spin along the word window track.  And, a pull tab card where you pull the ribbon or tab and it reveals the hidden message.  So, I combined the two and made this card.

I don’t have a tutorial for this one, so I’ll try and explain it the best I can.  Starting from the front:  the Kiwi Kiss pieces that frame the image are mostly there to cover up all the mechanics underneath.  The first Baja Breeze layer is stamped with the Neighborhood wheel.  I also stamped a second piece of Baja Breeze with the Neighborhood wheel.  The tricky part though, is stamping the wheel without that house there.  To do that, I used some scotch tape, (although I think it was actually packing tape because it’s wider) and put it over the house while I was inking it up in the ink pad.  Then, remove the tape and roll the wheel.  Presto – 1 missing house.

Next I had to line up the Baja Breeze pieces so that once I punched the window in the first layer, they would look the same.  The most time consuming part was figuring out where to punch the window so that the house wouldn’t fly off the page either direction and the truck would show up in the right place.  I have no idea how I figured that out, just marking and measuring and trial & error.  But anyway…

So, once I got the window punched, I put a sheet of acetate between the two layers of Baja Breeze.  I made sure it was cut to size and laid it in there flat.  There are no dimensionals between the two layers of Baja Breeze – I actually didn’t put any adhesive between the two layers – I used the extra word window scraps and made two small tabs that adhered outside the layers so it didn’t interfere with the sliding motion.

Okay, now we’ve got the neighborhood prepped, we need our moving truck.  He was stamped and colored and paper pieced and mounted on Kiwi Kiss.  The truck layer actually slides behind the second layer of Baja Breeze which is held off the card base by Stampin’ Dimensionals.  And, when you pull on the tab, the acetate pulls out, which pulls the house along, but also pulls the truck out.

Hocus Pocus. . . Abracadabra. . . POOF!  There you have it – the magical super duper powers of the Just Moved card.

I apologize for not having a tutorial to show you how this card works.  I actually sent it in for a contest so I didn’t take pictures as I was working.

Anyway…thanks for checking out my site, I promise the next project won’t be as heavy & technical as this one.  :)
