Heartfelt Thanks

Happy Monday! My card today is my entry in the Sudsol Design Challenge #20. The challenge was to make a simple & easy workshop card, then step it up with paper & embellishments.

I’ve been wanting to break out my pastels again – it’s been a long time since I used them. So, I was thinking of which stamps I could use that showcase the pastels nicely. I finally decided on an oldie but a goodie: “Heartfelt Thanks”. I also love the 2-step stampin’ look over the pastels. I pulled out my Whisper White scraps and stamped the solid flower image in Versamark. Then I took a q-tip and brushed Rose Red & Garden Green chalk over the image. Next I used my Stampin’ Write markers in the corresponding colors to color directly on the rubber of the outline stamp. I mounted the flower focal point on Garden Green. The sentiment is from the set “Much Appreciated”. I like the elegant script font with the delicacy of the pastel flower.

For my step-up design, I added a piece of Rose Red Prints Designer Series paper with a torn edge. *Lots of people ask me how to get a good torn edge. I think there are two easy ways: 1) Use the Stampin’ Up! Tearing Edge guide available in the catalog or 2) Pull down towards you when you’re tearing to get the white edge to show.*

As the final embellishment, I cut a piece of the white grosgrain ribbon and put a silver brad through both layers to hold it together. Then I colored the edges of the white grosgrain with my Stampin’ Write markers: Rose Red & Garden Green. A little bit of SNAIL on the back to hold it to the card and you’re all done!

After I look at it, I’m not sure I like the ribbon there. I think maybe it’s too big and distracts from the flower, but it’s not too bad. Anyway…thanks for reading and have a great week!

Happy stamping!
