A little shout out

Today I want to take just a couple minutes and give a shout out to my sister-in-law. She’s a crafty type too and while she likes to stamp, she also likes to quilt and some other things. Well, this little shout it is to say “Congratulations!” because she made a 40+ inch long Hardanger that won 1st Place and Best Overall prizes at our state fair. If I had a picture of it, I would post it so you could see it. But I don’t so you’re going to have to settle for the card I made her instead.

I didn’t have any stamps that said, “Congratulations on winning first prize at the fair”, so I was left to my own devices. Hmmm…then I remembered a retired hostess set called “Basket Full of Fun” that had balls of yarn. Okay, so it’s not quite the same as the hardanger embroidery thread, but it’ll have to do. So, I pulled out my little truck again (I know you’re getting tired of seeing him).

I stamped the Loads of Love truck once on Whisper White and again on Purely Pomegranate (which is now retired – yay for the new catalog!)

I stamped the driver and then masked the truck bed to fit the yarn stamp in the back. I colored all the parts of the truck on Whisper White and then paper pieced the Purely Pomegranate truck body over the top. The mat piece is River Rock; I used my slit punch on one end to make the rounded tab. Then I pulled out my swirled clip from the Hodgepode Hardware in Pewter (can you tell I’m trying to use up my retired goodies?) Finally, the ribbon is non-SU (I’m sorry) but I just love the stripes and that it goes so well with our colors.

The background is stamped in Soft Sky on the Soft Sky card base.

So that’s the news around here. I’m so excited for my sister-in-law and just had to brag on her a minute. I’m done now, thanks for ‘listening’.

Happy Stamping!
