Happy Birthday hedgehog

I have been waiting to post this card because yesterday was my hubby’s birthday. And, while he wouldn’t admit it out loud, I think he peeks in here on my blog. So, I had to wait to share this card with you.

This is a super simple card that uses a retired stamp set called “Hedgehog Happiness”. I used the hedgehog set because when my husband and I were first married we had a hedgehog. His name was Arphaxad (arr-fax-add) and he was very cute. We would get him out and let him run around on the carpet with supervision. He was very happy in his plastic box filled with pine shavings and bowl full of kitten food. Unfortunately, we also had a cat and occasionally she would tip his box over. More than once we woke up in the morning to an overturned tupperware box and a missing hedgehog. Anyway…Arphaxad lived a long life and passed away peacefully in his box of pine shavings. We still have the cat and she’s now our porch cat spending the afternoons napping on our front porch.

Well, now that you know all about our hedgehog Arphaxad, I’ll give you the details on the card. (There will be a pop quiz on both items later.)

The card base is Creamy Caramel. The image is stamped in Staz-On Timber Brown on Whisper White cardstock and colored with the Stampin’ Write® markers. The Whisper White is mounted on Ruby Red with a torn edge. The accent piece across the card is Old Olive card stock with a torn edge. The ribbon is (retired, sorry!) Chocolate Chip narrow grosgrain.

On a different note, my box of new colors arrived yesterday and hopefully soon I’ll have some things from the new catalog to show you. Check back soon!
