Don’t Rock the Boat Baby!

My Loads of Love challenge card #4 is here! This is a tilt card using the Boatloads of Love set.

For a detailed description of how to assemble a tilt card, go here for a tutorial. I’m going to do a condensed version.

The first thing you need to do is pick an image or stamp set that fits with the idea of tilting or swaying. Lots of things would work, but things like, say a house probably wouldn’t be the best choice. It doesn’t have to be a specific picture, it could be any design element like a circle or a label. Once you’ve decided what you want to spin, stamp that image on a scrap piece of cardstock and cut it out with paper snips or a craft knife.

Next you’ll need the layer of card stock you’re mounting it on. You’ll need to cut a hole in the layer large enough for a Stampin’ Dimensional®. Then center one penny behind the hole and attach the dimensional through the cardstock. Now attach the second penny to the dimensional. Finally, attach your swaying object to the top penny (I used sticky strip).

You’ll end up making a little ‘penny sandwich’ which will cause your object to tilt and sway when you tilt the card.

Hopefully, you can see the penny sandwich in these pictures. When you’re finished assembling the rest of the card, it should work like this:

As far as details go, I stamped the boat on Whisper White in Basic Black and colored it in with my Stampin’ Write® markers. The next layer is Bashful Blue and the last two layers are Real Red and Ballet Blue. The waves in front were made with the slit punch. The back layer is plain Ballet Blue card stock, but the front layer is Ballet Blue cardstock that I swiped with my white Craft Ink pad. The sentiment is stamped in Real Red and punched out with the Word Window Punch. The clouds were stamped on Whisper White in Basic Black ink, and are attached to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

This card was a lot of fun to make. It really didn’t take that long and I would love to see tilt cards from you.

If you have ideas for stamp sets that would make good tilt cards, post a comment here!
